After Australian cricketer Usman Khawaja was charged with breaching International Cricket Council (ICC) regulations for wearing a black armband during the first Test match against Pakistan in Perth, West indies bowling great Michael Holding slammed the apex cricket governing body. Holding blasted ICC by terming its actions on the Khawaja fiasco as "hypocrisy and lack of moral standing". Khawaja earlier wanted to wear shoes with "all lives are equal" and "freedom is a human right" written on them as a show of solidarity for people suffering due to the Israel-Hamas conflict but the request was turned down by the ICC.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) denied Australia batter Usman Khawaja's attempt to spread awareness about the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. The ICC declined Khawaja's latest application to display an image of a dove and an olive branch on his bat and shoes. The ICC's clothing and equipment regulations prohibit players and team officials from displaying personal messages on their clothing or equipment.
Pakistan's injury woes went from bad to worse Sunday with off-spinner Abrar Ahmed the third player in as many days to be ruled out of the second Test against Australia. Ahmed missed their 360-run defeat in Perth with leg discomfort, and while improving, he has not recovered sufficiently to take part in the Boxing Day Test at Melbourne. "Considering the nature of the injury and the workload required from a spinner in a Test match, Abrar is not yet ready and will therefore not be available for the second Test," the Pakistan Cricket Board said.
Former Pakistan cricket team spinner Danish Kaneria accused the Pakistan Cricket Board of 'sheer discrimination' for allegedly ignoring his Test record in Australia. Kaneria took to social media to share a graphic that listed Pakistan bowlers with the best performances in Australia and pointed out that despite taking 24 wickets in 5 matches, his name was missing. “Just look at the audacity of Pakistan Cricket Board. I took 24 wickets in 5 matches in Australia but they removed my name from the list. The living example of sheer discrimination against me,” he posted on X (formerly Twitter).
Australia's experienced left-arm pacer Mitchell Starc was "surprised" to see Pakistan's lack of pace in the first Test which was one of the most talked about points. Pakistan are quite restricted in terms of putting up a quality pace bowling line-up with Naseem Shah nursing an injury and Haris Rauf opting out of the Test series. Without experience, the majority of the burden fell on Shan Masood's deputy Shaheen Shah Afridi, but even he struggled to generate pace. "I think everyone was slightly surprised at the lower pace of the Pakistan bowlers, when you're generally used to some guys getting in the 150s [kph]. I don't think that pace is the be all and end all but it certainly plays a part and can help," Starc said, speaking to media as quoted from ESPNcricinfo.

The Pakistan Cricket Board is looking to implement a regulation which forbids any player's agent or company from signing more than 2 to 3 players at one time for representation. The cricket management committee running the Board affairs is expected to take a final decision on this regulation in the next couple of days after two agencies signed on dozens of Pakistani team players and officials for representation. After realising that one agent, Talha Rehmani and his company Saya Corporation represented 7-8 leading Pakistani players and officials including Babar Azam, Shaheen Shah Afridi and Muhammad Rizwan, PCB has now learnt that another agency known as International Cricketers Association (ICA) also has contracts with many players and officials presently touring Australia.
