Chennai To Host India's First Formula 4 Night Street Racing

Chennai is all set to host India's first formula 4 night street racing from the 30th August to September 1. The racing would be in the heart of the city around Island Grounds on a 3.5 KM long stretch near the Marina. Held under two categories - an IPL like Indian Racing League race between franchise teams from different cities and a Formula 4 racing intended for junior drivers. Team owners include Sourav Ganguly and Bollywood star Arjun Kapoor among others.

Heat Warning Issued For Paris During Games On Tuesday

France's meteorological agency has issued a weather warning for Paris and the surrounding areas with storms and highs of 35 degrees Celsius expected on Tuesday as the capital hosts the Olympic Games. The agency put in place a "yellow alert" -- the second of four levels -- as a heatwave arrives from southern France. The alert was issued in particular because "very hot" conditions across Paris were forecast to linger overnight, with the mercury not expected to drop below 22C between Tuesday and Wednesday.

Britain's Tom Daley was dethroned as Olympic champion on Monday but took an emotional silver medal with partner Noah Williams in the men's synchronised 10m platform behind China's Lian Junjie and Yang Hao. It was a fifth medal in five Olympics for 30-year-old Daley, who won gold with Matty Lee in the same event at the pandemic-postponed Tokyo Games three years ago. Lian and Yang, who have won at the last three world championships, established their dominance with their first dive and never looked like giving up the lead.

Atiqa Mir, the nine-year-old racing sensation created history at the famous and prestigious Le Mans Kart International circuit, by becoming the first female racer in the world to win a race in the Rotax Challenge International Trophy. She achieved this by winning Race 2 in the Heats of the Micro Max Category. Atiqa, driving for the championship-winning Dan Holland Racing Team in the Lando Norris kart, was in good form throughout the week. Despite it being her first visit to the legendary Le Mans circuit with no prior practice, Atiqa adapted quickly to the new brand of kart and set the pace in the practice sessions, consistently topping the grid.

Indian rider Kavin Quintal is all set to make a historic debut at the World SBK SSP300 competitions, becoming the first Indian rider to participate in a World Superbike Championship. "Thanks to the opportunity provided by the Irish team, 'Team#109 ' and its management company, Gaman Racing Global Service, Kavin's entry is accepted for the SSP event in the fourth round, which begins at Most, Czech Republic on Friday," the press release by World SBK stated. The 19-year-old Chennai star, Kavin Quintal, will be filling in for the Irish team's main rider, Spaniard Daniel Mogeda, who suffered an injury after leading the Supersport 300 class, in an unfortunate crash that paved the way for the Irish team to rope in Kavin Quintal.
