Five-time world champion Magnus Carlsen feels it is only a matter of time before India becomes a leading chess nation, saying the country is "doing a lot of right things". Carlsen who is the current world rapid chess champion, is widely regarded as the best player of the current generation. While Indian chess players have done extremely well in global circuit in recent years, the country also successfully hosted the Chess Olympiad last year. "I think India is doing a lot of right things so far, and it is a matter of time before it is clearly the leading chess nation in the world," Carlsen was quoted as saying in a press release.

Indian Bowlers Focus On Building Workload Ahead Of WTC Final Against Australia

The Indian cricket team is focusing on building workload for the bowlers, who had an extensive run in the IPL, ahead of the World Test Championship final against Australia starting on June 7 at The Oval. In the bowling department, while the likes of Mohammed Siraj, Shardul Thakur, Akshar Patel, Jaydev Unadkat and Umesh Yadav were part of the first batch to travel to England, pace spearhead Mohammad Shami's departure was delayed as the IPL final in Ahmedabad last Sunday was moved to the reserve day after incessant rain. "Could Have Been Valuable Addition For India In WTC Final": Ricky Ponting On GT Star

Batting legend Ricky Ponting feels that India should have picked Hardik Pandya in their squad for the World Test Championships final against Australia in London, saying his all-round abilities could have turned out to be the deciding factor in the one-off game. Pandya has not played a Test since 2018 and he has opted sit out of the five-day format due to ongoing fitness concerns. But Ponting felt Pandya could have played in the winner-takes all clash at The Oval from June 7-11. Primarily because he has bowled in more or less every game in the just-concluded IPL for Gujarat Titans which he captains.

"Might Have Got Out First Ball But...": India Great On MS Dhoni's Duck In IPL Final

Chennai Super Kings engraved their name in the history of IPL after they defeated Gujarat Titans by five wickets to lift their fifth title on Sunday. Chasing a revised target of 171 in 15 overs due to the DLS method, CSK clinched the victory on the very last ball as all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja smashed a boundary to take his side across the line. However, one thing during the summit clash which left the fans utterly disappointed was the golden duck dismissal of MS Dhoni. Almost every cricket fan wanted to witness Dhoni's iconic helicopter shot but their hopes were crushed by Mohit Sharma, who removed the CSK skipper on the very first delivery.

Legendary cricketer Sunil Gavaskar feels emerging from the IPL T20 mode will be the biggest challenge for the Indian players when they take on Australia in the World Test Championship (WTC) final against Australia next week. Rohit Sharma's India will play the WTC final at The Oval from June 7 to June 11 with a majority of the players having come through the rigorous IPL, which concluded on Monday with Chennai Super Kings lifting the trophy for a record-equalling fifth time.
