Former New Zealand Captain Daniel Vettori Named Australia Men's Cricket Team Assistant Coach

Daniel Vettori was Tuesday named as an assistant to Australian cricket coach Andrew McDonald, who said the former New Zealand captain's knowledge and experience would be invaluable. All-rounder Vettori played 113 Tests and 295 one-day internationals for the Black Caps and worked alongside McDonald with Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League. He will continue as head coach of the Birmingham Phoenix in England's The Hundred. "It's a very strong and unified group which has the potential to have a very rewarding and hopefully successful period ahead," Vettori said of the Australian squad.

Despite Poor Form In IPL 2022, Kane Williamson Will Be In Form In Upcoming England Test Series: NZ Head Coach Gary Stead

New Zealand head coach Gary Stead is hopeful that their skipper Kane Williamson, who went through a lean patch in IPL 2022, will be back to his form in the upcoming Test series against England. Williamson played 13 matches for Sunrisers Hyderabad and scored just 216 runs, before flying back to New Zealand on Wednesday for the birth of his second child. "He's a bit disappointed he hasn't got the runs he wanted during the IPL. You don't often see the great players often miss out perhaps as much as he has, but I think what we have to understand, coming back into red-ball cricket, I think that will suit where he's at with his game, his temperament as well," said Stead as reported by ESPNcricinfo.

Suzie Bates Feels Women's IPL Will Help The Game Grow

New Zealand all-rounder Suzie Bates on Saturday said that a potential Women's edition of the Indian Premier League will not only add a lot of depth to the Indian women's cricket environment but also help women's cricket grow as a whole. "Yes, firstly, it will be the most important competition for Indian women's cricket, providing opportunities to the domestic players to play at that level. It is gonna create a lot of depth in the Indian women's cricket environment. Globally, just to have so many eyes on women's cricket by having an IPL, is going to help the game grow," said Bates in an interview with ANI.

England vs New Zealand: Kane Williamson To Lead New Zealand In England Test Series

New Zealand named a fit-again Kane Williamson as captain of their enlarged squad for the Test series in England, where he will hope the triumphs of a year earlier can be repeated. An elbow injury sidelined captain Williamson from both of his country's recent home series draws against Bangladesh and South Africa. The world class batsman has not played for New Zealand since November but returned to the crease last week for his Indian Premier League side, Sunrisers Hyderabad.

"Cast As The Villain": Chris Cairns Opens Up On Pain Wrought By Match-Fixing Trials

New Zealand cricket great Chris Cairns feels he can talk candidly about the pain of match-fixing allegations brought against him now that he has survived multiple health scares. The former allrounder spoke publicly for the first time Monday about the court battles to clear his name spanning 2012 to 2015. Interviewed on a podcasthosted by media company NZME, Cairns said the high-profile trials had consumed his life and that he had harboured "anger and animosity" after having his credibility scrutinised and his career effectively shredded -- even though he was never found guilty.
