The 24 Hours of Le Mans 2022 did not get off to a quiet start on Saturday afternoon as a near-immediate crash brought sudden drama. Within moments of the start of the race, there was a notable incident as LMP2 racer, the #22 United Autosport Oreca, flew off into the gravel before the Dunlop Chicane and even one turn. A jaw-dropping helicopter dive stunned 24 Hours of Le Mans fans in what was a truly amazing pre-race show at the famous event. The 90th edition of the world’s most famous endurance race certainly got the welcome it deserved minutes before the cars let rip at the start of the race on Saturday afternoon. Peter Hickman became just the fourth rider to win four races in a week at the Isle of Man TT Races when he took victory in Saturday’s Senior TT. It was Hickman’s second Senior TT win and ninth in total.
Michael Dunlop moved one step closer to Uncle Joey’s record of 26 wins at the Isle of Man TT Races with victory in Friday morning’s Supersport race, his second of the week, moving him on to a career total of 21.
Although unable to take his fourth win of the week at the Isle of Man TT Races, Peter Hickman took a close second place in Friday’s second Supersport race and pushed eventual race winner Michael Dunlop all the way.
