F1 Drivers Blast FIA Chief's 'Tone And Language' In Swearing Row

Formula One drivers on Thursday blasted the "tone and language" used by FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem amid a row over swearing at press conferences. In an open letter, the Grand Prix Drivers' Association (GPDA) also demanded that competitors be treated like adults. Several drivers, including three-time world champion Max Verstappen of the Netherlands and Monaco's Charles Leclerc, were recently sanctioned by the FIA for swearing at a press conference.

Huge Opportunity For Lando Norris As Max Verstappen To Start 17th In Formula 1 Brazil GP

Lando Norris will start from pole position for the Brazilian Grand Prix on Sunday after a truncated qualifying session in wet conditions which saw five red flags. Championship leader Max Verstappen, who is 44 points clear of Norris at the top of the standings, was running 12th when the second qualifying session was red-flagged. That means that with a five-place penalty for fitting a sixth engine, the Dutchman will start 17th in the Grand Prix later on Sunday.

Oscar Piastri Takes Brazil Sprint Pole But Wary Of Team Orders For Lando Norris

Oscar Piastri grabbed pole position on Friday for the sprint race at the Brazilian Grand Prix and said he will race to win but conceded that team-mate Lando Norris has a greater need of points. The McLaren duo, boosted by an updated rear wing, locked out the front row of the grid to raise the possibility that team orders to help Norris's title bid may come into use. Speaking after Friday's sprint qualifying session at Interlagos, the modest Australian driver said he wanted to win Saturday's race, adding that anything might happen.

Advantage Lando Norris In Brazilian Grand Prix As Title Rival Max Verstappen Handed 5-Place Grid Penalty. Reason Is...

Max Verstappen was hit with a five-place grid penalty on Friday for the Brazilian Grand Prix as his world title defence suffered another bump in the road. The Red Bull star was penalised for opting to take a new engine in his car.  It is his sixth of the year, exceeding the limit of four. The setback comes as his hopes of a fourth successive world title have been steadily dented by McLaren rival Lando Norris who is 47 points behind in the championship with four race weekends left this season.
