BEIJING : Germany's luge gold medallist Natalie Geisenberger, who was sharply critical of China prior to the Beijing Olympics, said she would make comments on China only after leaving the country.
It’s not often that the USA goes five days of a Winter Olympics without picking up a gold medal. At the last Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, it was something of an anomaly when it took two days for Team USA to claim their first gold. At Sochi 2014, Vancouver 2010 and Torino 2006, an American had topped the podium after the first 24 hours.
China secured their third gold medal of the Winter Olympics in Beijing, as 18-year-old Eileen Gu delivered under huge pressure in the big air final.
Often an inside joke, the Canadian bronze — aka fourth place — had become all too familiar a finish for luge doubles pair Tristan Walker and Justin Snith.
Amy Williams has admitted she was ‘shaking’ with joy after watching Natalie Geisenberger become the first woman to win three Olympic luge singles titles. Following gold medals in the event in 2014 and 2018, the German secured her latest win by a margin of 0.493 over her fellow German Anita Berreiter. Ad/> Geisenberger equalled the singles record of three wins set by Georg Hackl on the men's side and also secured her fifth gold medal in total after team relay wins at the previous two Games.
