India finish on top in yet another ISSF Shooting World Cup

On the final day on Wednesday, the Indian trio of Anish Bhanwala, Vijayveer Sidhu and Sameer won silver in the Men's 25m Rapid Fire Pistol (RFP) Team event, going down to the Czech Republic 15-17 in a nerve-wracking final at the Changwon International Shooting range. The trio had made the final after coming through two rounds of qualification, finishing second with 872 points in the first and topping the second with 578 for a shot at gold.

Teenage shooters Anish Bhanwala and Rhythm Sangwan won bronze in the 25 rapid fire pistol mixed team event at the ISSF Shooting World Cup in Changwon on Tuesday. The Indian duo emerged victorious 16-12 over Czech Republic's Anna Dedova and Martin Podhrasky in the bronze medal match. This was Anish and Rhythm's second medal as a pair in the ISSF Shooting World Cup, having won the 25m rapid fire pistol mixed team event at the Cairo World Cup in March.

Mairaj Khan creates history, becomes first Indian to win skeet gold at ISSF World Cup

World Cup as he topped the podium in the ISSF event in Changwon, South Korea. Mairaj, 46, who became the first Indian skeet shooter to qualify for the Olympics in 2016, scored 37 in the rain-marred final to win gold. In the qualifiers, the player from Uttar Pradesh shot 119 to tie at the eighth position with four other shooters, including Tokyo bronze medallist, Abdullah Alrashidi.

In the 40-shot final, the 46-year-old from Uttar Pradesh shot 37 to finish ahead of Korea's Minsu Kim (36) and Britain's Ben Llewellin (26), who won the silver and bronze respectively. The shooter shot 119/125 over two days of qualifying before coming through in a five-way shoot-off enroute his maiden individual gold.

This is Anjum Moudgil's second straight shooting World Cup medal of the year. She had won silver in the same event in Baku held last month. Former world championship silver medallist Anjum Moudgil had qualified for the ranking round in the women's 3P on Saturday, completing sixth in the qualifiers. She was a little underwhelming towards the beginning of the ranking round on Sunday and after the first 10-shots in the kneeling position, was fifth out of eight shooters.
