Rudrankksh Balasaheb Patil Shatters World Record In Junior Men's Shooting Event

Shahu Tushar Mane clinched the gold medal in the men's 10m Air Rifle event, while Rudrankksh Balasaheb Patil set a new world record en route to winning the junior title at the National Shooting Championship for Rifle events here on Monday. Mane of Railways clinched his first senior national title, winning the 24-shot final by the thinnest of margins. Also hogging the limelight was former world champion Rudrankksh of Maharashtra, who shot a sizzling 254.9 to win the junior final, surpassing the existing senior finals world record held by Olympic Champion Sheng Lihao of China, by a margin of 0.4.

Asian Games medallist shooter Chain Singh earned India its first medal in the ISSF World Cup in New Delhi, winning a bronze in the men's 50m rifle 3-positions event in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Hungarian Istvan Peni won gold (461.0), his seventh ISSF top-podium finish, while China's Tian Jiaming (458.8) bagged the silver, as Chain notched up 443.7 points to settle for bronze. Earlier, two-time Olympian Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar, Niraj Kumar and Rio Olympian Chain had qualified for the final. Aishwary qualified second ahead of the experienced Chain in third. Both shot identical scores of 589, with Chain giving up a spot, on accuracy. Niraj was fifth with 587.

Indian shooter Sift Kaur Samra produced a sensational come-from-behind performance to win her first individual ISSF World Cup gold in the women's 50m rifle 3-positions final, while Esha Singh bagged a second individual World Cup silver in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The 23-year-old Sift from Faridkot thus earned India its first gold of the season-opening World Cup stage event at the Tiro Federal Argentino de Buenos Aires shooting range late on Friday. The world record holder was a huge 7.2 points behind Anita Mangold of Germany after 15-shots in the first Kneeling position. However, she staged a dream comeback in the second Prone and final Standing positions to win by a canter in the end.

Narmada Nithin Raju Shoots Down National Record To Clinch Women's 10m Air Rifle Gold; Anish Bhanwala Wins 25m Rapid Fire Pistol

Former World Cup winner Narmada Nithin Raju overcame a strong field, which included Asian Games medallist Ramita Jindal and Olympian Elavenil Valarivan, to not just create a national record but miss equalling the world mark by a fraction of a point on her way to clinching gold in the women's 10m air rifle event at the 38th National Games in Dehradun on Thursday. Among other results, Haryana's 2022 World Championships silver medallist Anish Bhanwala bagged gold in the men's 25m rapid fire pistol event.
