Team India Gets New Head Coach For Ireland T20Is In Absence Of Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman: Report

The Indian cricket team is set to embark upon a new adventure on the tour of Ireland in the T20I series. While head coach Rahul Dravid has been given a rest for the assignment, even VVS Laxman, who usually steps into Dravid's shoes in such cases, will not be touring with the boys. In the absence of the two India stalwarts, the young Indian team will see former domestic stalwart Sitanshu Kotak taking up the role of the head coach. Kotak is presently the head coach of the India A team at the NCA.

Cricket Ireland on Friday named a 15-player squad that will face India in a three-match T20I series between August 18 and 23 at Malahide. Ireland will welcome India for a three-match T20I series set to be played in Malahide between August 18-23. While the majority of the squad reflects the playing group that successfully qualified for the 2024 ICC Men's T20 World Cup last week, the selectors have recalled Leinster Lightning all-rounder Fionn Hand and have included Gareth Delany who is returning from injury after breaking his wrist in Zimbabwe in June. The upcoming series is the first T20 action for the national side since securing T20 World Cup qualification and is being treated accordingly as part of the strategic planning for that tournament scheduled for June 2024.

It has been confirmed by Cricket Ireland that India will play a three-match T20I series against Ireland later this year, announced ICC on Tuesday. Details of the series were finalised on Tuesday 27 June, with India set to return to Ireland after their entertaining tour of the country back in 2022. All three matches will be held at Malahide, on the outskirts of Dublin, between August 18 and 23. The series comes immediately after the conclusion of India's all-format tour of the West Indies in July and August.
