Gautam Gambhir Unwilling To Give Kohli, Rohit, Bumrah Break For Sri Lanka ODIs: Report

With India's ODI assignment against Sri Lanka only a fortnight away, clarity over certain senior players' availability hasn't come. It was earlier reported that veteran stars like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah are keen to remain unavailable for the ODI assignment, and have asked the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for an extended break after the victorious T20 World Cup 2024 campaign. But, it has now been reported that the team's new head coach Gautam Gambhir is not keen on this proposition made by the senior stars.

Hardik Pandya Won't Play ODI Series vs Sri Lanka, Report Claims Interesting Reason

Star all-rounder Hardik Pandya is all set to lead India in the three-match T20 International series against Sri Lanka starting July 27. However, one of the heroes of India's T20 World Cup victory last month will take a break during the three-match ODI series, which is scheduled in August, due to "personal reasons". "Hardik Pandya was India's T20 vice-captain under Rohit Sharma. He is completely fit and available for the three-match T20I series and will lead the side," a senior BCCI source told PTI on conditions of anonymity.

After his T20 World Cup 2024 triumph, star India all-rounder Hardik Pandya received a warm welcome in his home city, Vadodara, on Monday. The 30-year-old also attended a roadshow to celebrate Team India's win in the T20 World Cup. In the T20 World Cup, Pandya scored 144 runs in six innings at an average of 48.00 and a strike rate of 151.57, with a half-century and best score of 50*. He also took 11 wickets in eight games at an average of 17.36 and an economy rate of 7.64, with the best figures of 3/20. During the roadshow, many fans gathered on the road to give Hardik a cordial welcome in Vadodara. Hardik's brother, Krunal Pandya, was also present at the roadshow.
