India vs West Indies: Washington Sundar Ruled Out Of Upcoming T20I Series, Kuldeep Yadav Confirmed As Replacement

Washington Sundar has been ruled out of the upcoming India vs West Indies T20I series due to a left hamstring muscle strain. The all-rounder suffered the injury during the third ODI vs West Indies in Ahmedabad. Also, the All-India Selection Committee has named Kuldeep Yadav as his replacement. The upcoming T20I series is scheduled to take place at Eden Gardens in Kolkata and is set to start on Wednesday.

Rohit Sharma led the way as Team India geared up for their upcoming three-match T20I series vs West Indies, starting from February 16. In the photos, Rohit could be seen displaying his wide array of shot selection. Meanwhile, Yuzvendra Chahal was also practicing his bowling in the nets. India pacer Mohammed Shami on Monday praised Rohit Sharma saying that he is a good and very supportive captain. The Rohit-led side won the ODI series 3-0 against West Indies. Both the teams will now be facing each other for the T20I series in Kolkata, starting from February 16. "Rohit no doubt is a good captain. He has won many IPL seasons and is a great leader. He has been really supportive to me, as we both have been playing for a long time now," Shami told ANI.

Work has begun on the country's new National Cricket Academy (NCA) with the BCCI brass, including president Sourav Ganguly and secretary Jay Shah, laying the foundation stone of the complex on Monday. The BCCI has secured the land on a 99-year lease. "The new National cricket Academy starts from today ..laid the foundation stone of the new place today in Bengaluru," Ganguly tweeted and also shared images of the ceremony.

India batting coach Vikram Rathour said the team has not yet decided whether it would be experimenting again in the T20I series against the West Indies by opening the batting with Rishabh Pant. The wicketkeeper-batter opened the batting in the second ODI against the West Indies last week and batted at No.5 when Shikhar Dhawan was back in the mix in the final match. "We haven't really decided that yet, we still have a couple of days to go. We had a travel day and rest day, so today we have our first practice day, once we get to look at the wicket and the kind of surface we are playing," said Rathour while replying to an ANI query during a virtual press conference on Monday.

West Indies wicketkeeper-batter Nicholas Pooran was picked up by SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) for Rs 10.75 crore in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) mega auction. For Pooran, interest was shown by SRH and Kolkata Knight Riders, and in the end, the left-handed batter went to SunRisers. Earlier, Wriddhiman Saha and Sam Billings went unsold in the auction while Ishan Kishan was picked up by Mumbai Indians for Rs 15.25 crore. Dinesh Karthik went to Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Jonny Bairstow was acquired by Punjab Kings.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Saturday acquired the services of India pacer Deepak Chahar in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 mega auction in Bengaluru. He was bought by CSK for a whopping sum of INR 14 crore, becoming the highest paid bowler in the ongoing auction. Delhi Capitals and SunRisers Hyderabad started the bidding war for Chahar on Saturday. However, he was eventually sold to CSK, for whom he had been playing in the IPL before being released ahead of this player auction. CSK had retained four players and entered the auction with a purse of INR 48 crore.
