Big Blow For PCB, 3 Demands May Be Rejected By Jay Shah-Led ICC: Tri-Series With India And...

Jay Shah, new ICC chairman, recently called for a Board Meeting that was supposed to start at 5pm IST on Thursday, according to a report. However, that meeting has been postponed. While the agenda of the meeting was not known, several reports said that it was meant to find a solution for the Champions Trophy host issue. While the BCCI have said no to going to Pakistan, the designated host of the Champions Trophy, the Pakistan Cricket Board has rejected a hybrid model of hosting.

BCCI Responds To PCB's Demand Of Hybrid Model For All ICC Events In India: Report

The talks between the International Cricket Council, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) over the Champions Trophy deadlock don't seem to be heading towards a resolution. A ray of hope was seen after the Pakistan board reportedly agreed to adopt the hybrid model, which would see India's matches being held in Dubai, though with some conditions. However, the Indian board has reportedly rejected Pakistan's 'conditions' in which the PCB had asked for ICC events being held in India to also adopt the same 'hybrid model'.

BCCI 'Hesitant' To Accept PCB's Terms For Ending Champions Trophy Row - Report Makes Big Claim

There has been a lot of conversations surrounding the Champions Trophy 2025 with India refusing to travel to Pakistan over security concerns. With the International Cricket Council (ICC) under a lot of pressure to resolve the deadlock between the two countries, a 'hybrid' formula was floated that meant India will be playing their matches in Dubai. Several media reports suggested that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) was ready to accept it if the ICC was willing to give a written confirmation that all Pakistan matches in events hosted by India will take place in a neutral venue and they are given an increase share in annual revenue. However, according to CricketPakistan, the BCCI is 'hesitant' in accepting the solution.

"Wahin Unhe Maarke Aao": Shoaib Akhtar's Explosive Take On Champions Trophy Row

Former Pakistan speedster Shoaib Akhtar isn't on board with how the ICC Champions Trophy saga has dragged on. A hybrid model has reportedly been agreed between all parties, though the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has made a few demands to give their stamp of approval. PCB, who hold the hosting rights for the tournament, were hell-bent on organising the entire tournament in Pakistan but the recent meeting with ICC has seen them soften their stance. However, PCB has also reportedly demanded all ICC events, to be held in India, be organised in a hybrid model too.

"Cricket Should Win": PCB Softens Tone On India-Pakistan Champions Trophy Row

Backing down from its boycott threat, the Pakistan Cricket Board has told the ICC that it is willing to accept the 'Hybrid' model for hosting next year's Champions Trophy provided the world body allows the same arrangement for events to be held in India till 2031. What was divulged by a PCB source in Karachi was all but confirmed by its chief Mohsin Naqvi in Dubai hours later. The tournament is scheduled to be held in February-March and India have refused to travel to Pakistan citing security concerns. "I don't want to comment too much because that can ruin things. We have given our point of view (to the ICC), the Indians have also given theirs. The effort is to ensure a win-win for all," Naqvi told reporters. "Cricket should win, that's most important but with respect for all. We are going to do what's best for cricket. Whichever formula we go for, it would be on equal terms," he added.
