The Open will draw a record attendance of 290,000 people at St Andrews in Scotland this year, according to organisers.

Wimbledon communications and marketing director Alexandra Willis said a descendant of Leslie Godfrey, who hit the first ball on Centre Court, would be in the royal box. The court, which hosts the men's and women's finals each year, was not universally welcomed when it was opened in 1922.
DP World Tour chief executive Keith Pelley has issued a scathing response to the LIV Golf players who threatened legal action against the tour if their bans and fines were not removed.
