CWG 2022: Gold medals in lawn bowls and table tennis headline Day 5 for India
Commonwealth Games here as it added four more medals to its tally, taking the total to 13 - 5 gold, 5 silver and 3 bronze medals. The quartet of Lovely Choubey, Rupa Rani Tirkey, Pinki and Nayanmoni Saikia created history by bagging the country's first ever medal in the sport of lawn bowls, beating South Africa (17-10) in the final of the Women's Fours event. Meanwhile, Vijay Thakur continued the medal rush by the weightlifting contingent by clinching a silver medal in the men's 96kg category final. The lifters have so far contributed eight medals to India's tally at the ongonig Games.
