HANGZHOU: Letitia Sim broke her own national record in the women’s 100m breaststroke at the 2023 Asian Games on Wednesday (Sep 27), but still fell short of earning Singapore’s first swim medal in Hangzhou.
Indian swimmers Tanish George Mathew, Vishal Grewal, Anand AS and Srihari Nataraj advanced to the final of the men's 4x100m freestyle relay at the Asian Games on Thursday. They clocked a national record time of 3:21.22 in their heat to qualify for the final. Men's 4x100m freestyle relay final will start today in Hangzhou at 6:18 PM. Tanish, Srihari and Anand were also a part of the previous national record, a 3:23.72 at the 2019 Asian Age Group Championships.
India had a brilliant run at the Asian Games 2023 on Wednesday with eight medals across disciplines including two gold medals in shooting. Indian swimmers continued to disappoint in the pool with none of them managing to qualify for the finals of their respective events at the Asian Games in Hangzhou on Wednesday. Olympian Maana Patel finished fifth in heat 3 and 13th overall with a timing of 1:03.55s but failed to qualify for the final of women's 100m backstroke. It turned out to be a disappointing outing for India's Nina Venkatesh as well as she finished fourth in her heat and 14th overall with a timing of 1:03.89s to crash out of the women's 100m butterfly.
