First Win Since 2004: FIFA's Worst-Ranked Nation San Marino End 20-Year Curse

San Marino, the world's worst team according to the FIFA rankings, made history on Thursday by beating Liechtenstein 1-0 in the UEFA Nations League to claim their first ever competitive win. The tiny country of barely 30,000 people, surrounded by Italy, came into the match at their San Marino Stadium looking for a first win of any sort since beating Liechtenstein in a friendly in 2004. Liechtenstein had a goal disallowed for a tight offside in the first half before San Marino pounced on a defensive error to grab the winner in the 53rd minute through Nicko Sensoli.

Cristiano Ronaldo's Euros Equal To FIFA World Cup Remark Triggers Lionel Messi Fans

Cristiano Ronaldo might be 39 years old but there still isn't a ray of doubt in his head that he is the best in the world, in fact, the best in history. After scoring his 900th career goal, in Portugal's 2-1 win against Croatia in the UEFA Nations League, Ronaldo once again chose to remind everyone of his achievements in the game. Though the Portuguese striker hasn't won the FIFA World Cup yet, he remains of the opinion that winning the UEFA Euro with Portugal is equivalent to the global quadrennial event.

Lamine Yamal And Spain Fail To Score vs Serbia In UEFA Nations League

Spain were held by Serbia in the UEFA Nations League on Thursday in their first game since winning Euro 2024, while Cristiano Ronaldo reached another milestone by scoring his 900th career goal as Portugal beat Croatia. Eight of Spain's starting line-up in their Euro 2024 final victory over England almost two months ago were on the field at kick-off against Serbia in Belgrade. Among them was Lamine Yamal, with the Barcelona prodigy just one of the Spain players to be denied by home goalkeeper Predrag Rajkovic.

Watch: Cristiano Ronaldo Gets Emotional On Scoring Historic 900th Career Goal

Not part of the Ballon d'Or shortlist, no problem as Cristiano Ronaldo goes about his business as usual. The Portuguese superstar scored his record-extending 900th career goal as his team defeated Croatia 2-1 in the first game of the UEFA Nations League on Thursday. Ronaldo inched closer to the milestone goal when he scored a glorious free-kick for his club Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia a few days ago. Last night, the 39-year-old reached the big milestone and celebrated as if he scored the first goal of his career.
