SILVERSTONE, England (AP) — Zhou Guanyu was involved in a frightening first-lap crash Sunday that brought the British Grand Prix to an immediate halt as safety crews attended to the only Chinese driver in Formula One.
Protestors stormed the track at Silverstone just moments after the huge crash during the opening lap of the British Grand Prix on Sunday.
The British Grand Prix was red-flagged on the first lap after Zhou Guanyu’s Alfa Romeo was launched upside down.
At Silverstone the Williams driver made it out of Q2 for the first time in his F1 career, but then had an off on his first flying lap in Q3 on Saturday.
The Prema Racing driver started alongside the Carlin rookie, who held the lead for the first two laps.
