It was already a very different and depleted grid after Romeo Ferraris withdrew their cars following Bruno Spengler’s earlier accident in the earlier Pool FAST DHL Super Final meaning Maxime Martin was unable to continue his fine run of form from pole position and Giovanni Venturini would not have the chance to put in a fine performance to end his weekend either.

Whilst the winner’s race was predominantly straightforward, that was far from the case elsewhere with a drama and incident heavy six laps in the heat of the Italian circuit in Regione Lazio.
Néstor Girolami headed Mikel Azcona to win Race 1 of WTCR Race of Italy in an incident-packed encounter at Autodromo Vallelunga Piero Taruffi. The victory marks a second of the season for Girolami in his ALL-INKL.COM Münnich Motorsport Honda Civic TCR, as Goodyear #Followtheleader Azcona extended his advantage at the top of the standings.
Rob Huff went from being a WTCR race-winning hero to becoming a potential point-scoring zero after a troubled Qualifying at Autodromo Vallelunga Piero Taruffi yesterday. Following his standout victory at WTCR Race of Portugal earlier this month, Briton Huff languished in P14 following Qualifying for Italy’s rounds of the WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup aboard his Zengő Motorsport CUPRA Leon Competición.
