Egyptian Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has donated 3 million Egyptian pounds ($156,664) to help rebuild a church in Giza where a fire on Sunday killed 41 people and left several others injured.
Lagos State Deputy Governor, Obafemi Hamzat, at the weekend, charged students across the state to ensure they maintain the excellence for which the state is known for, saying the state should be at the forefront in every sporting activity in the country.

University of Jos’ (UNIJOS) preparation to host the Nigerian Universities Games Association (NUGA) sports festival in 2024 has been boosted by the Korean Ambassador to Nigeria, Kim Young – Chae, who has commissioned an indoor taekwondo gymnasium complex built, funded and donated by the Korean government to the university. The gymnasium also has a table tennis court, boxing training kit, basketball court and badminton, as well as a gallery that can accommodate about 200 spectators.
At the presentation of the first set of equipment held at Mobolaji Johnson Sports Centre, Rowe Park, Yaba, the Japanese ambassador to Nigeria, Matsunaga Kazuyoshi, said his country is ready to improve judo’s profile in Nigeria, adding that Lagos, which he described as a sports loving state, will continue to benefit from the Japanese government’s gesture.
