The stunning beauty spot where you can explore miles of abandoned tunnels
While the Peak District is known as one of the most popular walking areas in England, sometimes it's fun to do something a little more unusual. The Monsal Trail, near Bakewell, just over an hour away from Manchester, not only offers breathtaking views of Monsal Dale, it also offers a traffic-free route along an abandoned railway line. The 8.5-mile trail can be used by walkers, cyclists, horse riders and wheelchair users.
