A look at winners and losers from Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series race at Martinsville Speedway:
Irish national time trial champion Ben Healy scored a podium finish at the Amstel Gold Race in the Netherlands beating every rider but one to take second place.
Tadej Pogacar (UAE Team Emirates) stormed to victory at Amstel Gold with another dominant display, as he beat Ben Healy (EF Education-EasyPost) and Tom Pidcock (Ineos Grenadiers). Pogacar made his move with 28.5km to go on the Keutenberg. The Slovenian didn’t look back, as he went on to win the Dutch spring classic for the first time.
On the first day of the spring transfer portal window, Georgia defensive tackle Bear Alexander told ESPN that he is planning to enter his name in the portal.
There has been a lot of speculation about what happened to Tom Thorpe.
Joining UAE Team Emirates has felt like a long time coming. The journey sort of started two years ago when the team started following me on the back of a strong season in the continental ranks. I was fit and performing really well, but the problem was that I had just signed for another team! That put the brakes on my transfer to UAE Team Emirates for another year, but boy am I glad to be here now.
There will be another mouthwatering Classics match-up at the 2023 Amstel Gold Race on Sunday as Tadej Pogacar (UAE Team Emirates) and Britain's Tom Pidcock (Ineos Grenadiers) go head-to-head. The pair were both in the field at the recent Tour of Flanders but experienced contrasting fortunes, Pogacar taking the win after a late solo breakaway, while Pidcock made a «stupid» fuelling mistake that meant he was not in contention at the front of the race.
Tadej Pogacar (UAE Team Emirates) and Jonas Vingegaard (Jumbo-Visma) have gone blow for blow in the early part of the 2023 season as the pair look set to for another battle royale at July's Tour de France. Pogacar has confirmed his status as a rider for all stages, winning Paris-Nice and the Tour of Flanders to go alongside the existing Grand Tour pedigree he already has.
