"Goodnight Soldier" tells the story of a young couple faced with multiple obstacles – first, their feuding families, then a combat wound that raises questions of virility. Finally, we take a look at the eerie offerings of a retrospective of British film noirs showing at the Cinémathèque in Paris.
Meanwhile, the Arab World Institute in Paris is hosting a joint exhibition from French photojournalist Raymond Depardon and Algerian writer Kamel Daoud, as well as showcasing a major collection of Algerian paintings. Finally, we go out dancing to French-Algerian artist DJ Snake’s viral clip "Disco Maghreb", described as "a love song" to his country.
Although the good weather returned, organisers felt it was safer to cancel the first two days to secure the site, a move welcomed by both festivalgoers and artists.
