Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur on Saturday backed the Indian women's team to regain confidence in home conditions during the three-match T20I series against the West Indies, following a disappointing T20 World Cup campaign and a 0-3 defeat in Australia. Having failed to progress beyond the group stage in the T20 World Cup in October, India bounced back with a 2-1 ODI series win against New Zealand at home. However, their 0-3 loss in the ODI series in Australia has once again put the team under significant pressure.
Former India opener turned cricket pundit Aakash Chopra has called out the selection process of Team India in the third Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia. The main point that Chopra put across was the chopping and changing of the lone spin-bowling all-rounder in the playing XI. Chopra remarked that India seem to be playing a different spinner every game, and remarked that had Kuldeep Yadav been a part of the squad, he would've been chosen in the fourth Test.
Only 13.2 overs were bowled on Day 1 of the 3rd Test between India and Australia with rain causing an early suspension to the day's play on Saturday. Put into bat by India captain Rohit Sharma, Australia finished the day on 28-0 with Usman Khawaja 19 not out and Nathan McSweeney unbeaten on four. The rain persisted throughout the day and the umpires eventually called off play midway through the final session. To make up for the lost overs, the play will begin 30 minutes prior (5:20 AM IST) to the scheduled start (5:50 AM IST), but only if the weather allows.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the franchise owners in the Pakistan Super League are facing a catch-22 situation over signing on some of the high profile overseas players who went unsold in the Indian Premier League auction recently. PSL 10, to be held between April 8 to May 19, is clashing with the IPL this time and teams are keen to sign players such as David Warner and Steve Smith, who did not find takers in IPL auction.
South Africa vs Pakistan 3rd T20I Live Streaming: Pakistan arrive into the third and final T20I hoping for a consolation win, having narrowly lost both the first and the second T20I, and thereby the series, against South Africa. Pakistan's batting improved significantly in the second game, but their bowling faltered as a powerful 117 by Reeza Hendricks saw the Proteas chase down 206. Young left-handed opener Saim Ayub has been the shining light of the Pakistan batting, and will hold be crucial if Pakistan are to win the third T20I. The series has been new white-ball captain Mohammed Rizwan's second successive away T20I series defeat, having lost to Australia in November.
South Africa vs Pakistan 3rd T20I Live Updates: After gaining an unassailable 2-0 lead, South Africa will be squaring off against Pakistan in the third and final T20I match on Saturday in Johannesburg. The Proteas will now be playing to claim a clean sweep against Pakistan. Earlier on Friday, Reeza Hendricks slammed a sensational century while Rassie van der Dussen scored a quick-fire 66 as South Africa defeated Pakistan by 7 wickets. Batting first, Pakistan posted a solid total of 206 for 5 with Saim Ayub top-scoring with 98. However, South Africa made short work of the run chase and completed it in 19.3 overs. (Live Scorecard)
Former cricketer Basit Ali has taken a dig at Jason Gillespie after he resigned as head coach of Pakistan's Test team. Former Australia pacer Gillespie's resignation came after the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) didn't review the contract of Tim Nielsen as the high-performance coach of the team. With Pakistan set to play in a two-match Test series against South Africa starting on Boxing-Day (December 26), Basit took a sly dig at Gillespie, saying that the timing of his resignation couldn't have been more ideal for him as South Africa is not an easy place to Test cricket.
