In a huge setback for Team India, as it gears up for the Champions Trophy, marquee pacer Jasprit Bumrah was been ruled out of the tournament due to a lower back injury. While Bumrah's fitness was deemed okay, the selectors decided to not risk him in the ICC event. Instead, they decided to name Harshit Rana as his replacement. While the Bumrah and Harshit swap was forced, the board also made an unforced change by bringing in spinner Varun Chkravarthy in place of opening batter Yashasvi Jaiswal. Though the team management had its reasons behind the said changes, fans aren't entirely on board.
Pakistan batter Tayyab Tahir dismissed the speculation about Rachin Ravindra being stuck by the ball due to an issue with the floodlight during the first match of the ODI tri-nation series between the Men in Green and New Zealand last week in Lahore. The unfortunate injury incident occurred in the 38th over of the second innings, when Rachin attempted to complete a catch off Michael Bracewell. During his attempt, he seemingly lost sight of the ball due to floodlights and took a heavy blow to his face. He went off the pitch after he started to bleed.
Up 2-0 in the series, the Indian cricket team hosts England for the third and final ODI at Ahmedabad on Wednesday. With the fate of the series already sealed, expect India skipper Rohit Sharma to try a few fresh places in the playing XI. The likes of Kuldeep Yadav, Rishabh Pant, and Arshdeep Singh could all get a chance to play, especially keeping the team's ICC Champions Trophy participation in mind. There is bound to be a special focus on Virat Kohli too as the entire country awaits his return to form.
Sri Lanka vs Australia 1st ODI, Live Streaming: Sri Lanka will be taking on Australia in the first ODI of the two-match series on Wednesday in Colombo. Both the teams recently squared off against each other in a two-match Test series, where Australia emerged victorious by claiming a clean sweep. However, the Lankans will now be aiming to bounce back in the ODIs. The Champions Trophy begins on February 19 in Pakistan and Dubai, and 50-over world champions Australia are in a group with England, South Africa and Afghanistan.
The recent turn of events in the Indian ODI team has been quite dramatic. After Jasprit Bumrah's injury became a catch-22 situation, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) selection committee decided not to take him to Dubai for the ICC Champions Trophy, naming Harshit Rana, who made his ODI debut in the England series, as his replacement. Another surprise awaited the Indian cricketing spectrum as opening batter Yashasvi Jaiswal was dropped for mystery spinner Vaun Chakravarthy, courtesy of the latter's exemplary performances in the T20I assignment against England.
Australia's bid to win the Champions Trophy was a dealt a major setback Wednesday with their formidable pace attack of Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, and Josh Hazlewood all ruled out. Cummins (ankle) and Hazlewood (side and calf) were always unlikely to play, but Starc has also withdrawn for personal reasons. Steve Smith will captain the team after standing in for Cummins during their two-Test thrashing of Sri Lanka this month. The 15-man squad is also without all-rounder Marcus Stoinis, who retired from the 50-over game last week, and Mitchell Marsh who was previously omitted with a back issue.
