Glenn Maxwell set to miss start of IPL 2022

Glenn Maxwell is set to miss the tour of Pakistan and the initial few games of Indian Premier League due to his wedding next month. Maxwell told 'Fox Sports' that the clash was unavoidable due to changes in the schedule. He is one of the retained players by Royal Challengers Bangalore alongside Virat Kohli and Mohammad Siraj. "Originally when I organised the dates with CA there was a two-week gap where I could potentially have it," Maxwell said after the third T20 against Sri Lanka in Canberra. "So when I sorted that out I was pretty happy that I wasn't going to be missing in any series. And then I came to the [CA] contract meeting midway through last year and they said well this is [when] the Pakistan series [is on] and I thought well obviously that's changed since the last conversation we had." The IPL is expected to start in last week of March and Pakistan limited overs tour is scheduled from March 29.

After pulling off a clean sweep in the three-match ODI series, the focus now shifts towards India's three-game T20I series against West Indies, starting with the first match on Wednesday, February 16. All eyes will be on Virat Kohli once again following his poor show in the ODI series. On the eve of the first T20I, former India pacer Ajit Agarkar shared his views on Kohli, who will return to the T20 team for the first time since giving up the captaincy last year. He said that even when Kohli was the skipper, "his runs didn't dry up" despite the added pressure, which are signs of a great captain.

After missing the second T20I, Mitchell Starc returned to Australia's playing XI as the hosts made a few changes to their team against Sri Lanka in the third T20I of the five-match series at the Manuka Oval in Canberra on Tuesday. With Australia winning the toss and electing to bowl, Starc was the centre of attention due to a wayward delivery. In the fifth ball of the 18th over, Starc went for a slower off-cutter but the ball slipped out of his hands and landed near second slip.
