Johannesburg - South Africa start their brief two-match Test series against New Zealand (midnight tonight) knowing they have the bowlers to win, but still unsure if the batters can provide substantial totals.
It's not a case of New Zealand counting their lucky stars that both Tests, the first of which starts on Thursday, are going to be played at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch.
Australian opening batter David Warner has a new home in the Indian Premier League. The former Sunrisers Hyderabad captain was bought in the IPL mega auction by Delhi Capitals for Rs 6.25 crore and that brings the curtains down on his long stint with SRH. Warner, who had led the franchise to the IPL title, fell out with the team management last season, which saw him getting stripped off captaincy too. New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson was handed the duty mid-season. The Kiwi batter had shouldered the responsibility in the 2018 season too, when Warner was serving a ban due to his involvement in the 'Sandpapergate' controversy, and taken the team to the final.

India opener KL Rahul and teammate Virat Kohli continued to occupy the fourth and 10th spot respectively in the latest ICC men's T20 batting rankings released on Wednesday. No Indian featured in the top 10 of the bowlers and all-rounders' list. The recent run of form from Australia pacer Josh Hazelwood has been rewarded as he rose to a career-high second place in the bowling rankings. The right-armer jumps four spots on the latest rankings, ahead of Adil Rashid, Rashid Khan and teammate Adam Zampa and is only behind South Africa's Tabraiz Shamsi at the top of the charts.
