New Zealand vs South Africa, 2nd Test, Day 3, live cricket score and updates:New Zealand will look to continue their recovery while South Africa will eye early wickets when the two teams resume playing on the third day of the 2nd Test in Christchurch on Saturday. Earlier, Colin de Grandhomme and Daryl Mitchell mounted a crucial rescue mission for New Zealand as South Africa continued to dominate the second Test on day two on Saturday. Their 66-run, sixth wicket partnership, dominated by a half-century to de Grandhomme, lifted New Zealand to 157 for five at stumps in reply to South Africa's 364. Playing with the lights on during a gloomy afternoon at Hagley Oval, South Africa had New Zealand at five for 91 before de Grandhomme joined Mitchell in the middle. The burly all-rounder favoured attack as the best defence and was not out at 54 off 61 deliveries at stumps, with the more circumspect Mitchell on 29. (LIVE SCORECARD)
The in-form Shreyas Iyer continued to impress with his dazzling strokeplay as his unbeaten 44-ball 74 powered India to a series-clinching seven-wicket victory over Sri Lanka in the second T20 International on a chilly Saturday evening in Dharamsala. Ravindra Jadeja blasted 45 off 18 balls as India chased down the target of 184 with 17 deliveries to register their 11th straight win in the format. Sanju Samson contributed 39 off 25 balls. India were dealt a massive blow early on as they lost their captain Rohit Sharma for one in the final ball of the first over, the successful bowler being Dushmantha Chameera. Rohit was out bowled after Chameera delivered a short-of-a-good length ball that was angling back into the right-hander.
Ishant Sharma got a wicket in his first spell but never looked incisive in his nine overs as Jharkhand, riding twin centuries from Nazim Siddiqui and Kumar Suraj, put Delhi on the brink of elimination in their group H Ranji Trophy match. Jharkhand ended the third and penultimate day at 288 for five in 76 overs and, with an overall lead of 315, is all but sure of three points. They would probably bat another hour on the final day to nullify any remote chance of Delhi chasing the target in just five hours. If Delhi end with another one point, they would only survive in theory as even a seven point game (bonus) against Chattisgarh won't allow them to surpass Tamil Nadu.
The selectors and team management had given all-format players Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant a break from the ongoing T20I series against Sri Lanka. Shubman Gill, KS Bharat, Jayant Yadav, Saurabh Kumar and Umesh Yadav too will join the rest of the squad which will come down from Dharamsala. The Test players have been exempted from being locked in a room for days.
Lahore Qalandars will eye their first ever Pakistan Super League (PSL) title when they face defending champions Multan Sultans in the final on Sunday in front home their home crowd of the Gaddafi Stadium. Lahore are the only team yet to lift the title after six seasons of the tournament. After finishing second in the points table this time around, the Shaheen Afridi-led side defeated Islamabad United in Eliminator 2 on Friday to qualify for the final. However, their star Afghan spinner Rashid Khan won't be available for the summit clash as he is currently in Bangladesh for national duty.
Proteas women's captain Sune Luus shrugged off the side's growing favourites tag ahead of the ICC Women's World Cup in New Zealand.
Cape Town - Paarl Rocks captain Pieter Malan believes his team are the "underdogs" heading into Sunday's T20 Challenge final against the Titans.
