BCB Rests Shakib Al Hasan From All Forms Of Cricket Till April 8, To Miss South Africa Series

Bangladesh premier all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has been granted a break from all forms of cricket till April 30 to deal with "mental stress" and "fatigue", ruling him out of the upcoming South Africa series that runs till April 8. The 34-year-old, who was not picked by any of the IPL franchises, was initially named in the ODI and Test squads for the South Africa tour. But following his comment that he felt like a "passenger" in the team after Bangladesh's recent series against Afghanistan, where he made 74 runs and took seven wickets in three ODIs and two T20Is, the country's cricket board (BCB) decided to give him a much-needed break.

"Unfair, Wouldn't Consider It": Star England Pacer Stuart Broad Fumes After "Mankad" Law Update

One of England's most successful pacers in Test cricket, Stuart Broad expressed his concerns over Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC), the custodian of cricket's laws, decision to update the law related to runout at non-striker's end. The amendment now legitimizes "Mankad" dismissalas it was moved from "unfair play" play category to the "run-out" category. Taking to Twitter, a seemingly agitated Broad said that "Mankad requires zero skill" and is an "unfair" way of claiming a wicket. "So, the Mankad is no longer unfair & is now a legitimate dismissal. Hasn't it always been a legitimate dismissal & whether it is unfair is subjective? I think it is unfair & wouldn't consider it, as IMO, dismissing a batter is about skill & the Mankad requires zero skill," he wrote.
