From the stands to world No 1, Sophie Eccelstone’s World Cup journey is only just beginning

An England side without Sophie Ecclestone is hard to imagine but five years ago, when the hosts lifted the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup trophy aloft, the star spinner was watching from the stands.

"Could Spin The Ball From Day 1" On Australian Pitches: Sachin Tendulkar Remembers Shane Warne

Former Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar on Tuesday recalled his memories with late Australia spinner Shane Warne. Warne tragically died from a heart attack at the age of 52 early this month. "It was in the year 1991 that I played against him. We were playing a practice game against Prime Minister's XI. And here comes a stocky, strong, blonde guy bowling leg-spin. The focus was on other bowlers, by that time I had played a couple of years of international cricket and the focus was on the rest of the attack. But Shane came and bowled some incredible deliveries," said Tendulkar in a video posted on his YouTube channel and 100MB app.

Would be very emotional thinking about AB de Villiers if we win IPL: Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli feels if Royal Challengers Bangalore were crowned champions for the first time in the coming seasons it would mean a lot to AB de Villiers, who would be the first person on the former captain's mind after the triumph. One of contemporary cricket's greatest batters, de Villiers retired from all forms of the game in November last year. Since starting his association with RCB in 2011, the South African batting legend enjoyed 11 fruitful seasons with the franchise. "The other day, it got me thinking, if we manage to win the title in the coming seasons, I would be very emotional thinking about him first," Kohli, who had stepped down as captain after the 2021 season, said on RCB Bold Diaries. "Rather than what I would experience after such hard work of so many years, I would actually think of him. "It would still mean a lot to him even if he is watching the game from home. He is a special human being as he has touched everyone, and we all can vouch for that," he added.

It's hard to accept, Shane Warne will continue to live in our hearts: Sachin Tendulkar

Sachin Tendulkar has paid rich tribute to the late Shane Warne, calling him a "fierce competitor", against whom he always had to prepare differently as the Australian spin legend was good in playing mind games and gave nothing away with his body language. One of the all-time greats of the game, Warne died at the age of 52 due to a suspected heart attack in Thailand on March 4. "My first proper series against Shane Warne was in 1998 in India and everyone tagged that series as Tendulkar versus Shane Warne clash.

Joe Root Should "Step Down" As Captain, Says Ex-England Skipper

Joe Root should step down as England Test captain following his side's series loss to the West Indies, former skipper Michael Vaughan told the BBC. Root's position is under the spotlight after a 1-0 series defeat which came on the back of a woeful 4-0 Ashes thrashing by Australia. That extended England's poor run to four successive Test series defeats. The 31-year-old Yorkshire star batter has skippered England in a record 64 Tests, winning 27 games -- more than any other captain -- but lost 26, which is also more than any other captain.

IPL 2022: Ravi Shastri Pinpoints Lucknow Super Giants' "Tactical Error" That Cost Them Match vs Gujarat Titans

Lucknow Super Giants' Indian Premier League journey did not get off to the best of starts after they went down to fellow debutants in an IPL 2022 clash Wankhede Stadium on Monday. After being put into bat, Lucknow found themselves in all sorts of trouble, reduced to 29 for four. However, half-centuries from Deepak Hooda and young Ayush Badoni brought them back from the dead and helped the team post a fighting total. However, like their top order, their bowling too faltered in parts as Gujarat Titans chased down the target with five wickets in hand and two balls to spare.

Pakistan vs Australia 1st ODI, Live Score Updates: Depleted Australia Take On Pakistan In Lahore

Pakistan vs Australia 1st ODI Live Score, Updates: Australia's T20 hero Mitchell Marsh has been ruled out with injury as they and Pakistan eye qualification for the 50-over World Cup when they start a three-match one-day international series in Lahore from Tuesday. The series is part of the 13-team ODI Super League in which every match carries 10 points, with the top seven qualifying automatically for the World Cup next year. Australia are currently seventh and Pakistan 10th, but both have played just three of their eight scheduled series. India have already qualified as hosts. Australia were already without key players David Warner, Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Steven Smith for various reasons and have been further hit by the loss of all-rounder Marsh, their hero when they won the T20 World Cup in November. All five senior players were part of the team that won the three-match Test series 1-0 last week, on Australia's first tour of Pakistan in 24 years.
