PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi Stepping Down From His Role? Cricket Board Breaks Silence - sports.ndtv.com - Pakistan

PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi Stepping Down From His Role? Cricket Board Breaks Silence

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Monday denied reports that chairman Mohsin Naqvi is stepping down from his role following his appointment as president of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC). The PCB termed the reports "baseless." Speculations have been rife since last week in Pakistan cricket circles that Naqvi had sent his resignation to Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, who is also the board's patron-in-chief. The reports suggested that Naqvi decided to step down after Pakistan's poor show in New Zealand where they lost the T20I series 1-4 and the ODI rubber 0-3, weeks after their disastrous outing in the Champions Trophy.

Gujarat Titans Dig Up Old Post, Give Hilarious Reply To Sundar Pichai After Washington Sundar Heroics

Washington Sundar impressed with the bat as Gujarat Titans (GT) beat Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). Coming in to bat at No. 4, Sundar smashed 49 off 29 balls and gave GT a great start in their run chase of 153. As GT ended up romping to victory with 20 balls to spare, the franchise took to social media to celebrate the knock. On X, GT brought up an old tweet of Sundar's namesake Sundar Pichai - the CEO of Google - and replied to it in style.

Jasprit Bumrah Makes Comeback For MI Against RCB. Hardik Pandya Says "This Gives Us..."

Mumbai Indians (MI) skipper Hardik Pandya won the toss and elected to field first in his side's Indian Premier League (IPL) against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at home venue of Wankhede Stadium on Monday. It would be a clash of titans at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai as Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, collectively known as 'Ro-Ko', will be playing against each other just almost a month after starring in India's Champions Trophy win. While RCB is placed in the third spot with two wins and a loss and has won both their away games so far against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK), MI is at the eighth spot in the table with just one win and three losses.

Mumbai Indians Coach's Blunt Take On Tilak Varma's 'Retire Out' Call: "We Keep Changing..."

As the debate on his decision to get Tilak Varma injured-out in the Indian Premier League (IPL) match against Lucknow Super Giants, Mumbai Indians head coach Mahela Jayawardene has once again defended his decision. With the Mumbai Indians needing quick runs in their chase of 204 at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow, the team management asked Varma, who was struggling to put away the ball and had managed to score only 25 from 23 balls, to come back to the dugout and send Mitchell Santner instead to blast a few big ones. Mumbai lost the match by 12 runs, and the move by the team management kicked up a storm on social media, with many former India players criticising it and terming it a blunder by MI, which will impact the morale of the players.

Pakistan Punished By ICC Thrice In 10 Days After New Zealand Series. Reason Is Same

Pakistan cricket team is going through a bad phase. After being knocked out of the group stage in the Champions Trophy, Pakistan lost 1-4 in a T20I series against New Zealand and then were outplayed 0-3 in an ODI series. Now, Pakistan have been fined five per cent of their match fee for maintaining a slow over-rate against New Zealand in the third ODI in Mount Maunganui on Saturday. "The visitors have been fined for the third successive game in the recently concluded series against the Black Caps," the ICC said in a release. The 1st ODI of the series happened on March 29, the second on April 2 and the third on April 5. The third sanction was announced on Monday.

Harry Brook Named New England White-Ball Cricket Captain

Right-handed batter Harry Brook has been appointed as the new captain of the England men's white-ball teams. Brook succeeds Jos Buttler, who stepped down from the role following England's early exit from 2025 ICC Champions Trophy in Pakistan. Brook had stood in for an injured Buttler as the England captain when the side played an ODI series against Australia in September last year. Brook had also captained England at the 2018 ICC Under-19 Men's World Cup in New Zealand. "It's a real honour to be named England's white-ball captain. Ever since I was a kid playing cricket at Burley in Wharfedale, I dreamed of representing Yorkshire, playing for England, and maybe one day leading the team.”
