Ranji Trophy Final: Ajinkya Rahane, Musheer Khan Put Mumbai In Command Against Vidarbha

Skipper Ajinkya Rahane bucked the trend of poor scores with a timely unbeaten 58 as Mumbai took a 260-run lead against Vidarbha at close on day two of the Ranji Trophy final on Monday. While young Musheer Khan reined in his aggression to make a gritty 51 not out, Rahane negotiated the Vidarbha bowling attack with utmost patience and precision to put Mumbai, who are aiming for a record 42nd Ranji title, in pole position. At stumps, the hosts were 141 for 2 in their second innings. Having being shot out for a meagre 224 in the first innings on the first day, Mumbai came roaring back in the first session to take a 119-run lead as Vidarbha, resuming at 31/3, were dismissed for 105 in the first innings.

"Greatness of Virat Kohli Has Been Reduced": Harbhajan Singh's Huge IPL 2024 Warning

For the unrelenting run-machine that Virat Kohli has been in the IPL, the MA Chidambaram Stadium here remains a peak that the Royal Challengers Bangalore batter is yet to scale. Kohli stands miles away from the rest in IPL, scoring 7263 runs from 237 matches with seven hundreds and striking at 130. But that supremacy dips at the Chepauk, where he averages just 30 and has a strike-rate of 111. In that context, former India off-spinner Harbhajan Singh said it was imperative for Kohli to produce a better effort when RCB face defending champions Chennai Super Kings in the inaugural match of this year's IPL at the Chepauk on March 22. "The greatness of Virat has been reduced in terms of his overall performance at that venue. It is a tricky venue to bat, especially as an opening batsman against a sort of weird tennis ball type bounce.

"We Got More Timid As The Series Went On": Brendon McCullum's Honest Admission On 'Exposed' England

After the end of the fifth and final Test match against India in Dharamshala, England head coach Brendon McCullum said that the visitors were more "timid" as the series went on. While speaking to the media, McCullum said that they lacked confidence at the end of the series as Rohit Sharma's India put a lot of pressure on the visitors. "If anything, we got more timid as the series went on, and that was because of the pressure that was applied to us by the Indian line-up, not just with the ball. With the bat, they put us under a tremendous amount of pressure, too," McCullum was quoted by ESPNCricinfo as saying.
