Pant suffered a life-threatening car crash in December 2022, and has been out of action since then. He had missed IPL 2023 due to the injuries sustained in the car crash. However, the National Cricket Academy (NCA) has cleared Pant to keep the wickets, and the player will also lead the franchise in IPL 2024.
