Jasprit Bumrah has reportedly taken himself out of the running to become India's next Test captain, according to Sky Sports News. Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant have now emerged as the top candidates to replace Rohit Sharma, who announced his retirement from Test cricket recently. Although Bumrah was widely seen as the favourite for the role, he is understood to have informed the selectors that he cannot commit to playing all five matches in long Test series because of workload concerns. With India set to play five Tests against England, the selectors are said to prefer someone who can play the entire series consistently.

Team India opener and left-hand batter Smriti Mandhana on Sunday became the third cricketer in Women's Cricket history to slam the most number of tons in the One Day Internationals. Mandhana achieved this milestone during the ODI tri-series final against Sri Lanka Women, which was played at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Suspended due to the India-Pakistan military conflict, the Indian Premier League (IPL) is set to resume either on May 16 or 17 with the possibility of the final being moved out of Kolkata. The announcement of ceasefire on Saturday paved the way for resumption of the league that was suspended on May 9 for one week. The IPL Governing Council members and the BCCI officials discussed the resumption plan on Sunday. BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla said the board is still working on creating a suitable schedule.
Bangladesh all-rounder Rishad Hossain has blasted the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), following the postponement of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). Amid escalating political tensions between Pakistan and India, the PCB decided to indefinitely postpone the PSL on Friday. The PCB initially tried to relocate the games to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), but there request was rejected by the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB). South Africa pacer Kagiso Rabada recently served a provisional ban for recreational drug use. The 29-year-old left the IPL, after playing just two matches for Gujarat Titans (GT), to return home last month, where he served the month ban and had also completed an education and awareness programme to prevent further substance abuse. According to a report in South African newspaper Rapport, traces of benzoylecgonine (BZE), a metabolite of cocaine was found on his urine sample during the SA20 earlier this year.
