7 Wickets In Less Than 6 Overs: Scotland Debutant Breaks Kagiso Rabada's Record, Makes History

Scotland pacer Charlie Cassell broke South Africa fast bowler Kagiso Rabada's nine-year-old record for best bowling figures on debut in Men's ODIs when he picked 7-21 in 5.4 overs against Oman in the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup League 2 match here on Monday. Cassell was added to the Scotland squad for the matches against Oman after fellow pacer Chris Sole made himself unavailable due to personal reasons. Cassell made an impact immediately with pinpoint accuracy, by trapping former Oman captain Zeeshan Maqsood lbw off his very first ball in international cricket.

"All These Speculations About...": Gautam Gambhir Opens Up On Equation With BCCI Secretary Jay Shah

Team India head coach Gautam Gambhir spoke about his relationship with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah during a press conference before leaving for Sri Lanka. "I have a fabulous relationship with him. Jay Shah and I go a long way back. All these speculations about different things are given on different pages. I think we can do a better job by clarifying those things rather than putting it in the press. We go a long way back. So far, it's been a great relationship. Hopefully, it continues that way," Gambhir said in the press conference.

'Can Overtake Sachin Tendulkar': England Great's "Special" Praise For Joe Root

Former captain Michael Vaughan has lauded Joe Root for being a special batter and has predicted that he could overtake Sachin Tendulkar's record for most runs by a batter in the history of men's Test cricket. On Sunday, Root smashed 122 off 178 balls, his 32nd Test hundred, during England's 241-run win over the West Indies at Nottingham to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series. Root, who now has 11,940 Test runs, has also become the eighth-highest run-getter in Test cricket, going past the likes of Sri Lanka's Mahela Jayawardene (11,814) and the West Indies' Shivnarine Chanderpaul (11,867).

Gautam Gambhir Issues Strict "No More Breaks" Directive To Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli

India head coach Gautam Gambhir on Monday said he expects senior batters Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli to be available for most of the ODIs and Tests after retiring from T20 Internationals, expressing hope that they would "keep their fitness" to be in the reckoning for the 2027 50-over World Cup. Both Rohit and Kohli announced their retirement from the T20I format after India's World Cup win earlier this month and were expected to miss the upcoming tour of Sri Lanka.

Captain In T20Is, But Doubts Over Suryakumar Yadav's ODI Future? BCCI Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar Answers

Suryakumar Yadav was the main talking point when India's squad for the Sri Lanka Tour was announced. The star batter was named the captain ahead of India's T20 World Cup vice-captain Hardik Pandya. BCCI chief selector Ajit Agarkar and head coach Gautam Gambhir on Monday elaborated on the plan behind making Yadav the skipper of the T20I team, and not Pandya. "You (would) want a captain that's going to be more likely to play all the games. Why Surya was made captain? Because he is one of the deserving candidates. The one we know has been around the dressing room over the last one year, you get feedback from the dressing room a lot.He has got a good cricketing brain and he is still one of the best T20 batters in the world," Agarkar elaborated before the team's departure for Sri Lanka.

Dominant India Women Face Nepal, Eye Semi-Final Berth In Women's Asia Cup 2024

Buoyant India will look to extend their winning run and seal a semifinal berth when they face Nepal in their final Group A game of the 2024 Women's T20 Asia Cup on Tuesday. India registered convincing wins in their first two matches of the continental tournament, beating traditional rivals Pakistan and United Arab Emirates by seven wickets and 78 runs respectively to put one foot in the semifinals. Minnows Nepal hardly have any time to recover from the thrashing they received at the hands of Pakistan in their previous outing on Sunday, the same day when the tournament's overwhelming favourites and defending champions India bulldozed the hapless Emirates side.

"Are Those Guys Not Deserving?": Ajit Agarkar's No Nonsense Take On Sanju Samson's ODI Absence

Former India pacer Ajit Agarkar, who is the chairman of the BCCI selection committee, had to answer some tough questions in the press conference on Monday. Speaking to media with head coach Gautam Gambhir before the team's departure to Sri Lanka, Agarkar had more questions to answer about those snubbed by the selection committee than those selected. When asked about the absence of Sanju Samson, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Abhishek Sharma, Agarkar gave a rather no-nonsense response, saying he can't fit everyone in a 15-man roster.
