Sri Lanka Beat Bangladesh By 7 Wickets In Women's T20 Asia Cup

Hosts Sri Lanka started their campaign in the Women's T20 Asia Cup on a positive note, beating Bangladesh by seven wickets in Dambulla on Saturday. After restricting Bangladesh to a modest 111 for eight, Sri Lanka completed the task with 17 balls to spare, reaching 114/3 in 17.1 overs. Opting to bat first, Bangladesh were off to a disastrous start and lost three wickets with just six runs on the board. It soon became 17/4, and then 48/5, before skipper Nigar Sultana steadied the sinking ship with a 48-run knock that came off 59 balls and included six boundaries.

Hardik Pandya "Galat Kaam...": Ex-India Star's Brutal Analysis On Indian T20 Captaincy Change

Former India cricketer Mohammad Kaif threw support behind all-rounder Hardik Pandya for T20I captaincy after Suryakumar Yadav was named captain for the tour of Sri Lanka. Interestingly, young batter Shubman Gill has been named the new T20I vice-captain ahead of Hardik, who held the role in the 2024 T20 World Cup triumph. Speaking to IANS, Kaif opined that the selection panel, led by Ajit Agarkar, should have supported Hardik, given his prior experience leading the T20I side.

"Hardik Pandya Reminded By Gautam Gambhir...": Report Reveals India Coach's Stern Message Over ODI Future

It's tough to be Hardik Pandya at this point of time. The star all-rounder, who played a big role in Indian cricket team winning the 2024 T20 World Cup, has been effectively kept out of the leadership group for the upcoming T20Is against Sri Lanka. On the personal front, on Thursday, Pandya parted ways with wife Natasa Stankovic. Now, Suryakumar Yadav will be India's designated captain in T20Is with Shubman Gill being his deputy.

"Same As Sachin Tendulkar And MS Dhoni": Kapil Dev's "Irreplaceable" Remark For India Duo

Former World Cup winning captain Kapil Dev has said veteran duo Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are "irreplaceable" in the Indian team across formats and called them "as same as Sachin Tendulkar and MS Dhoni". Kohli announced retirement from T20Is after delivering a match-winning knock of 76 in India's thirlling win in the T20 World Cup final against South Africa. Later, in the press conference, Rohit too called quits to his T20I career. "No one can take Virat and Rohit's place in the Indian team in any format. They have been a huge servant of Indian cricket and it was a happy farewell for them. The stature that Virat has made of himself in all formats, he will surely be missed in T20Is. Both are as same as Sachin Tendulkar and MS Dhoni. They are irreplaceable," said Kapil Dev, who is also a president of the PGTI, to IANS on the sidelines of Trinity Golf Championship League second edition curtain raiser event.

ICC Monitors Security Situation In Bangladesh, Venue Of Women''s T20 World Cup

The International Cricket Council (ICC) said it has been keeping a watch on the security situation in Bangladesh, the venue of the women's T20 World Cup later this October.
