The Afghanistan vs New Zealand one-off Test has been garnering negative publicity. The first two days of the match could not be held due to wet outfield at Greater Noida Sports Complex. On Tuesday, multiple inspections were held throughout the day before play was finally called off around 3:04 pm. Like Day 1, there was no rain on the second day of the Test, but the city witnessed some overnight downpours. Many electrical fans were brought in and kept face-down to dry the wet patch of the outfield. But the umpires felt the surface was not safe enough to play.

Rinku Singh Picked For Duleep Trophy As BCCI Makes Big Changes In Squads

All-rounder Rinku Singh received the nod from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for the second round matches of the ongoing Duleep Trophy 2024. Rinku comes in as a replacement player in the India B squad after the likes of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rishabh Pant had to withdraw following their selection for the senior men's Test series against Bangladesh. The second round matches in the Duleep Trophy starting from 12th September. The BCCI also revealed in a release that India A Captain Shubman Gill, KL Rahul, Dhruv Jurel, Kuldeep Yadav and Akash Deep have been named in India's Test squad for the series against Bangladesh and will not feature in the upcoming round.

The year was 1915. World War I was at its peak in Europe with Great Britain coming up heavy attack from the German forces. Despite there being minimum rain, no play has been possible for 4 sessions in the historic Test, courtesy of poor drainage and outfield conditions at the venue. Not a single ball was possible on the opening day of the match, resulting in a complete washout. On Day 2, the match couldn't start at the scheduled time either as the outfield was still wet. Rain did come down on Day 1 in the evening for some time but since then, there has been no precipitation at the venue. Yet, the groundsmen couldn't get the field ready for play.
