On Tuesday, multiple inspections were held throughout the day before play was finally called off around 3:04 pm. All-rounder Rinku Singh received the nod from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for the second round matches of the ongoing Duleep Trophy 2024. Rinku comes in as a replacement player in the India B squad after the likes of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rishabh Pant had to withdraw following their selection for the senior men's Test series against Bangladesh. The second round matches in the Duleep Trophy starting from 12th September. The BCCI also revealed in a release that India A Captain Shubman Gill, KL Rahul, Dhruv Jurel, Kuldeep Yadav and Akash Deep have been named in India's Test squad for the series against Bangladesh and will not feature in the upcoming round.

The year was 1915. World War I was at its peak in Europe with Great Britain coming up heavy attack from the German forces. The death toll was rising with every passing day and it included hundreds of youngsters who were enlisted in the army specifically for the war. One such army recruit was Harry Lee – a Middlesex cricketer who joined the 13th Battalion, part of the London regiment, and fought in the Battle of Aubers Ridge began on May 9. He was presumed dead in the battle and his parents even held his memorial. However, 15 years later after his ‘death', Lee went on to play his first Test for England when he took the field against South Africa at Johannesburg on February 13, 1931.
