Mick Schumacher has said that it would be a shame to lose the ‘historic’ Monaco Grand Prix from the Formula 1 calendar, with him comparing it to the status of the Indy 500 and the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Formula 1 has confirmed that the 2022 season calendar will now run at a reduced 22 races rather than 23, having been unable to find a suitable replacement for the cancelled Russian Grand Prix.
The decision creates a gap of two free weekends between the end of the European season at Monza on 11 September, and the start of the run of six flyaway races in Singapore on 2 October.
