After the teams were tied at 11-11 in the penalty shoot-out, India were declared winners via a coin toss but the decision was not accepted well by the crowd or the Bangladesh team. Huge protests followed both from the team as well as the home crowd and after some time, the decision was taken to declare both India and Bangladesh joint winners. The match ended 1-1 in regulation time and after India were declared winners, the crowd expressed their displeasure by throwing bottles and other objects. The officials quickly escorted the Indian players out of the field and after around two hours of deliberation, the decision was taken to award the trophy to both the teams.

Olympic bronze medallist Lovlina Borgohain (75kg) suffered a shock loss by disqualification (DSQ) to Ireland's O'Rourke Aoife in the opening round of the 75th Strandja Memorial Tournament in Sofia, Bulgaria on Monday. The referee disqualified Borgohain 1 minute 18 seconds into round three of the pre-quarterfinal bout after the reigning world champion received her third warning for excessive grappling. The 26-year-old Borgohain, who has already qualified for the Paris Olympics, won the first two rounds 3-2 but had a point deducted in each of the rounds, which left her trailing with three minutes to go.
