IPL 2022: Injured Washington Sundar likely to miss Sunrisers Hyderabad's next two matches

Washington Sundar is likely to miss at least the next two IPL matches for Sunrisers Hyderabad after suffering split webbing in his bowling hand, head coach Tom Moody has said. A disciplined bowling effort followed by skipper Kane Williamson's half-century helped SRH beat Gujarat Titans by eight wickets at the D.Y. Patil Stadium on Monday night.

James Anderson still struggling to understand his England omission

England great James Anderson is still unable to make sense of his controversial omission from the recent tour of the West Indies as he looks to revive his international career. Both Anderson and Stuart Broad, England's two all-time leading Test wicket-takers, were left out as part of a major shake-up following a humiliating 4-0 loss in Australia. The decision was made by a selection panel headed by interim director of cricket Andrew Strauss -- his predecessor Ashley Giles and England coach Chris Silverwood were both sacked after the Ashes debacle. Anderson and Broad have spoken of their disappointment at being told they had been left out by way of a five-minute phone call from Strauss. Anderson, 40, however, is determined to bowl his way back into the Test XI by starring for Lancashire in the first-class County Championship after England went down 1-0 in the Caribbean. "I've stopped trying to make sense of it and just put it to one side," Anderson said Monday of his England axe. "It was completely out of my control. I've got to focus on what I can control and that is bowling as well as I possibly can (for Lancashire). Something like this, for me, it's quite a big deal because it came out of the blue a little bit. I still feel like I'm bowling well."

IPL 2022, CSK vs RCB: Can Chennai Super Kings revive fortunes against Faf du Plessis-led Royal Challengers Bangalore?

Faf du Plessis made his IPL debut and for a decade after that, he remained a pillar of strength for CSK. Faf was a player CSK desperately wanted to retain but RCB bid aggressively for the former South African captain and acquired his services from the auction this time around. RCB also made Faf their skipper in place of Virat Kohli and now it’s under the guidance of the 37-year-old that the Bengaluru franchise is looking to turn things around.

IPL 2022: I think we were 10 runs short, says Gujarat skipper Hardik Pandya after losing against SRH

Gujarat Titans' (GT) skipper Hardik Pandya admitted that a total of 162 was at least 10 runs short of what would have been a par-score against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), who chased down the target by losing only two wickets in the Indian Premier League (IPL) game on Monday. This was Gujarat Titans' first defeat after winning three matches on the trot in their maiden appearance in the IPL. "I think batting-wise we were 7-10 runs short; that would have made a difference in the end. We started well with the ball, but those two overs where they scored 30 runs, got them back into the game," Hardik said after the match.

IPL 2022, Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Gujarat Titans Highlights: Kane Williamson stars as Hyderabad down Gujarat

Kane Williamson's attacking half-century and an unbeaten 34 by Nicholas Pooran helped Sunrisers Hyderabad hand newcomers Gujarat Titans their first loss in this season's IPL on Monday. Chasing 163 for victory, Hyderabad were propelled to victory by a 64-run opening stand between Williamson (57) and Abhishek Sharma (42) and reached their target with five balls and eight wickets to spare in Mumbai. As it happened | Scorecard | Points TableWilliamson fell to his opposite number Hardik Pandya in the 17th over but the left-handed Pooran kept up the charge in his 18-ball blitz as he completed the Indian Premier League win with a six. Hardik's unbeaten 50 went in vain after he steered his side to 162-7 but Gujarat -- one of two new franchises in the expanded 10-team IPL -- went down to their first loss in four matches. "Batting wise, I think we were 7-10 runs short and would've made a difference in the end," said Hardik.
