Joe Root resigns as England Test captain after disastrous winter
Yuvraj Singh feels that the side could have declared in the Multan Test against Pakistan after legendary batter Sachin Tendulkar had completed his double hundred. On March 29, 2004, during the second day of the Test, Virender Sehwag became the first Indian to score a triple-century in Test cricket with a blistering knock of 309. But what became a huge talking point was stand-in skipper and current India head coach Rahul Dravid opting to declare the first innings at 675/5 in 161.5 overs.
Sunrisers Hyderabad head coach Tom Moody has insisted that his side is playing "pretty good cricket" in this Indian Premier League (IPL) season despite a 21-run loss at the hands of Delhi Capitals at the Brabourne Stadium on Thursday. The defeat also meant that Hyderabad's losing streak in the tournament has been extended to three and they are now at sixth place in the points table. "I would have been concerned if we had been playing poorly. We are playing some pretty good cricket. If it wasn't for a couple of things, it could have gone our way this evening and we would have chased down that total. Everyone saw how close we were when Nicky (Nicholas) Pooran was in the middle of his onslaught (62 off 34 balls)," said Moody during the post-match virtual press conference.
Sri Lanka's newly-appointed coach Chris Silverwood wants his batters to score more freely and his fast bowlers to breathe fire early in their spells as he seeks to add a touch of flair to their performance. The former England head coach took charge of Sri Lanka last month, with the team ranked a lowly seventh in Tests and eighth in one-dayers. In his first news conference since taking over, Silverwood identified Sri Lanka's inconsistent batting as their main worry.
Delhi Capitals (DC) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) was a big learning experience for his team, playing against some of the best players on a good surface, said Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH)skipper Kane Williamson after the match here on Thursday. Williamson was talking about Delhi opener David Warner and Rovman Powell who shared an unfinished 122-run partnership for the fourth wicket as they helped their team reach 207/3 in 20 overs. Warner scored 92 not out while Powell slammed 67 not out to set up Delhi's big total. In reply, Hyderabad were restricted to 186/8 in 20 overs despite a fighting 34-ball 62 by Nicholas Pooran and a 25-ball 42 by Akiden Markram, losing by 21 runs.
COLOMBO (Reuters) - Sri Lanka's newly-appointed coach Chris Silverwood wants his batters to score more freely and his fast bowlers to breathe fire early in their spells as he seeks to add a touch of flair to their performance.
Sunrisers Hyderabad on Thursday, Delhi Capitals' opener David Warner said that he did not need any added motivation for the game. Warner's 58-ball effort against Hyderabad at the Brabourne Stadium here included 12 fours and three sixes. Thanks to his innings, Delhi scored 207 runs for three wickets. Warner's stay at the crease also included an unbeaten 122-run stand with Rovman Powell (67 not out). Warner played a destructive knock against his former franchise, who had sacked him midway through the last season over his poor form.
