Roger Binny, former Indian cricket team star and member of the 1983 World Cup winning team, is likely to be the next BCCI President replacing Sourav Ganguly, sources told NDTV. Binny is currently serving as an office bearer in the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA). He has previously served as a member of the BCCI selection committee. The name of Ganguly, a former India captain who became the BCCI president in October, 2019, is likely being discussed as the next International Cricket Council (ICC) chairman, the sources added.

The former pacer Roger Binny is said to be the frontrunner to replace Ganguly as the BCCI president and Jay Shah is expected to continue as the BCCI secretary.

Former India cricketer Harabhajan Singh, who is Punjab Cricket Association's chief advisor, has alleged that "illegal activities" are being carried out by certain office-bearers in the state body. Harbhajan, though, didn't mention the name of the office-bearers in his letter, which was sent to PCA members and district units of the body. Harbhajan, also a Rajya Sabha MP, also sent a detailed letter about "malpractices" by the current regime to CM Bhagwant Mann and Aam Aadmi Party's national convenor and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal.

The BCCI has confirmed its AGM (Annual General Meeting) will be held on October 18. According to a notification sent by BCCI secretary Jay Shah, the AGM will be held in Mumbai. Women's IPL is one of the important items on the agenda circulated to the state associations on Thursday evening. Also on the agenda are election to the office-bearers: president, vice-president, secretary, joint secretary and treasurer.

After the meeting in Birmingham, it was decided that with Greg Barclay ending his tenure this year, the election will be decided by a simple majority and the term of the Chair will be for a two-year period between December 1, 2022, to November 30, 2024.

BCCI president Sourav Ganguly told all state associations on Tuesday that the board is expecting to start the Women's IPL early next year. Ganguly wrote to all state associations outlining important points on the home international and domestic season for 2022-23. In the letter, he mentioned that the BCCI is working on the women's IPL. "The BCCI is currently working on the much-awaited Women's IPL. We are expecting to start the first season early next year," read the document in possession of NDTV.
