Shreyas Iyer's Short Ball Problems Remain A Worry
Just before the start of the second Test in Cape Town, Shreyas Iyer straightaway walked outside the Newlands Stadium for throwdowns after arriving for an optional training session. The two throwdown experts Nuwan Senaviratne -- the southpaw side-armer -- and Raghavendra, along with batting coach Vikram Rathour, were letting it rip from 18 yards. The idea was to get the flashy Mumbaikar match-ready for short balls which has been his problem across formats from the time he made his debut. Few minutes into the session, he got one throwdown from 18 yards, short and mean into the body that kicked up from length. It was more than 150 clicks due to the shorter distance traversed. The bat didn't come down in time and he was hit on the fleshy area between upper and lower abdomen.

Pakistan star Saim Ayub had an awkward moment on the field while he was running to prevent a ball from crossing the boundary. As Ayub's foot got stuck into the field, a piece uprooted, triggering a scary tumble from the Pakistan star. While no serious damage was done, the ball did touch Ayub's cap in the process. However, the match officials refused to award a 5-run penalty to the Australian team. Cricket Australia later clarified why.

Australia all-rounder Mitchell Marsh's joy was cut short after he overstepped a delivery on Day 1 of the ongoing third Test against Pakistan at the Sydney Cricket Ground. Marsh forced an inside edge from Pakistan captain Shan Masood and the catch was taken at second slip by Steve Smith. This sparked joyous celebrations from Marsh and the Australian players, only for the umpire to signal to a no-ball. Marsh seemed disappointed as he had a wry smile on his face. However, the all-rounder had the last laugh as he got the better of Masood 10 balls later.
