Newly-appointed England skipper Ben Stokes got a massive reprieve on Day 3 of the ongoing first Test against New Zealand at Lord's. In the 27th over of England's second innings, Stokes was castled by Colin de Grandhomme off a no-ball. On the fourth delivery of the over, de Grandhomme pitched a short-pitched delivery, but Stokes tried to pull it over the off side. However, the southpaw played it onto his stumps. But the replay showed that de Grandhomme had overstepped as no part of his heel was behind the popping crease.

Shane Warne will go down in the history of cricket as one of the greatest bowlers ever seen. The wily leg-spinner had a knack of bowling unplayable deliveries which would catch the batters off-guard. Warne died this year in March after a suspected heart attack in Thailand but his legacy lives on. It was on this very day (June 4), 29 years ago, when Warne stamped his authority in the Ashes as he delivered a the "ball of the century" to get the better of England batter Mike Gatting during the first Test at Manchester.

Liam Livingstone's power-hitting prowess was on full show in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. The England batter, who played for Punjab Kings, attained a massive strike-rate of 182.08 on way to scoring 427 runs in 14 games. He has continued that form in the T20 Vitality Blast in England. On Wednesday, playing for Lancashire against Derbyshire in Manchester, Livingstone hit five sixes and five fours to score 75 off just 40 deliveries. Courtesy his impactful batting, the Dane Vilas-led Lancashire reached a massive total of 219/6 in 20 overs and eventually registered a 17-run win.
Lasith Malinga appointed Sri Lanka's bowling strategy coach for white-ball series against Australia
Lasith Malinga has been appointed as the bowling strategy coach for the white-ball leg of Sri Lanka's home series against Australia, starting next week. A white-ball legend in his own right and one of the greatest T20 bowlers, the 38-year-old had held the same role with the national team when the team toured Australia in February this year for a white ball series. "Malinga, during the tour, will support Sri Lanka's bowlers, providing tactical insight and technical expertise to help the on-field execution of strategic plans," a Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) press release said. While Sri Lanka had lost the series 4-1, the bowlers managed to limit the scoring with the Australian batters restricted to a high total of 164/6 across the five games. "Sri Lanka Cricket is confident that Malinga's vast experience and renowned death-bowling expertise, especially in the T20 format, will help the team immensely going into this all-important series," the release added. Malinga retired from all forms of the game in 2021. He served as the fast bowling coach for the Rajasthan Royals in the recently-concluded Indian Premeir League. The former champions finished runners-up.
