Fanfare for Team India's biggest stars has been massive in Melbourne, as India play Australia in the fourth Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. To catch a glimpse or get a feel of their favourite cricketers, some fans have gone the distance. While a few days ago, a fan tied a cricket bat to a rope in a unique way to get Rohit Sharma's autograph, now another fan invaded the pitch during play to meet Virat Kohli. This fan even gave Kohli a hug when he got close to him.

Star India batter Virat Kohli was booed by a group fans as he walking back to the dressing room after his dimissal. The incident happened on Day 2 of the ongoing Boxing Day Test against Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on Friday. Kohli failed to convert a good start as he was dismissed for 36 (86) by Scott Boland. However, as Kohli was walking back to the dressing room, a group of Australian fans at the MCG, who also seemed have passed on some derrogatory remarks towards the star batter.

India reached 164 for five at stumps on day two, trailing Australia by 310 runs in the fourth Test here on Friday. Skipper Rohit Sharma (3) fell cheaply once again before Yashasvi Jaiswal (82) and Virat Kohli (36) steadied the ship with a 102-run stand. Jaiswal was run out following a mix up with Kohli, who was caught behind in the following over. Australia were all out after lunch with Steve Smith scoring his 34th Test hundred. Resuming at their overnight score of 311 for six, the hosts added 163 runs on the day to post a commanding total.

India seemed to have clawed their way back on Day 4 of the 4th Test against Australia as Yashasvi Jaiswal and Virat Kohli scripted a beautiful partnership of 102 runs for the third wicket. However, a horrible mix-up between Jaiswal and Kohli cost the former his wicket. While there remain different theories over who should be blamed for Jaiswal's dismissal, former India cricketers Sanjay Manjrekar and Irfan Pathan got engaged in a heated argument in the post-day show for the broadcaster Star Sports.

India batter Yashasvi Jaiswal and Virat Kohli were involved in a terrible mix-up on Day 2 of the fourth Test against Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on Friday. The pair added 102 runs for the third wicket before the incident led to Jaiswal's dismissal. It all unfolded on the final ball of the 41st over, which was bowled by Scott Boland. Jaiswal clipped a delivery towards mid-on and immediately called for a signal. However, Kohli was unaware of the fielder's position and was late to react to the call.

The legendary Sunil Gavaskar on Thursday criticised Virat Kohli for his heated altercation with young Australian debutant Sam Konstas, saying there was "no need" for the incident and the Indian star wouldn't want his legacy to be tarnished by such episode. Kohli was fined 20 per cent of his match fee and awarded one demerit point for breaching Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct after he and Konstas bumped shoulders in the 10th over of the Australian innings on the opening day of the fourth Test here.

The fourth Test turned out to be the first game in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy in which the Indian cricket team decided to enter with two spinners. While Ravindra Jadeja was already a part of India's playing XI from the third game in Brisbane, it was Washington Sundar, who was roped in as a second spinner in the playing XI. India played the first three games of the series with lone spinners in R Ashwin, Sundar and Jadeja, respectively. There was change of plans for the visitors during the fourth game at the Melbourne Cricket Ground and it was Shubman Gill who got dropped from the playing XI.
