From 1998 to 2018: India's performance in the last six CWG editions

Commonwealth Games, with the 2010 home edition being their best performance ever (101 medals). With 72 nations expected to participate in the Birmingham Games scheduled to start from July 28, Indian athletes, spearheaded by Tokyo Olympics gold medallist Neeraj Chopra, are expected to do well in this edition too. My coaches are being harassed regularly, politics is affecting my training: Lovlina Borgohain - timesofindia.indiatimes.com - Ireland - India - Birmingham - Istanbul

My coaches are being harassed regularly, politics is affecting my training: Lovlina Borgohain

Commonwealth Games are being hampered because of the "continuous harassment" her coaches are facing from the authorities. The Indian boxing squad reached the Games Village on Sunday night after a training stint in Ireland but Lovlina's personal coach Sandhya Gurung could not enter the Village since she does not have accreditation. Lovlina, perhaps, wanted her personal coach Amey Kolekar with her during the CWG but he did not feature in the long list. The decorated pugilist expressed her anger in a long Twitter post. "Today with a lot of grief, I want to tell everyone about the continuous harassment going on with me. The coaches who helped me win an Olympic medal are always being side-lined which has severely impacted my training schedule," Lovlina wrote in her twitter post.

Commonwealth Games-Bound Indian Track And Field Athlete Fails Dope Test: Report

A member of the CWG-bound women's 4x100m relay team is set be withdrawn from the Indian squad after testing positive for a banned drug. No official is willing to confirm the name of the dope offender. "A member of the relay team bound for CWG has tested positive and she will be withdrawn," a top source told PTI without elaborating. With the latest dope flunk, the women's 4x100m relay team has been left with just four members. If an injury happens to the remaining four members, somebody from other track events may have to be roped in, which, may affect the team's performance. The Athletics Federation of India (AFI) had initially named Dutee Chand, Hima Das, Srabani Nanda, NS Simi, Sekar Dhanalakshmi and MV Jilna in the 37-member Indian athletics squad.
