India will have multiple chances of adding to their medals tally as the athletes will take part in a number of finals on Wednesday (September 27). The day will begin with four Indian athletes in various final races in sailing - Jerome Kumar S, Vishnu Saravan, Nethra Kumanan and Chitresh Tatha. The quartet of Hriday Chheda, Anush Agarwalla, Sudipti Hajela and Divyakriit Singh will also take part in Dressage - Intermediate (individual) after they clinched the gold medal in the team event. There will be medal hopes in Wushu as well with Roshibina Devi Naorem and Rohit Jadhav in action.
India's equestrian dressage team gold medalists Anush Agarwalla, Hriday Chheda, Divyakriti Singh, Sudipti Hajela will be competing at the individual dressage event on Wednesday. Meanwhile, the country will aim for medals in games likes shooting and wushu too. On Tuesday, India charted new territories at the Asian Games 2023, thanks to a gold in equestrian - a sport where it never clinched the top spot in the last four decades. Earlier, Neha Thakur brought home silver in Girl's Dinghy - ILCA 4 category and Eabad Ali won bronze in men's windsurfing RS:X category. Meanwhile, Sumit Nagal and Ankita Raina entered the quarter-finals in men's and women's singles categories respectively.
Indian wushu players Surya Bhanu Pratap and Suraj Yadav suffered contrasting defeats in the 60kg and 70kg quarterfinals to bow out of the Asian Games on Tuesday. Surya, 27, couldn't add another medal to the bronze that he had won at the 2018 edition, going down 0-2 to Korea's Kim Minsoo. The Indian had beaten Uzbekistan's Khaydarov Islombek 2-1 in the earlier round. Later in the day, Suraj was knocked out by Afghanistan's Khalid M Hotak.
