IPL 2022 final confirmed in Ahmedabad, Women's T20 Challenge moved to Pune

Women's T20 Challenge exhibition event will be held in Pune from May 23-May 28, the BCCI confirmed on Tuesday. As PTI reported last month, the IPL Qualifier 1 and Eliminator will be held in Kolkata on May 24 and 25 respectively while Qualifier 2 and final will be played in Ahmedabad on May 27 and May 29 in front of a capacity crowd.

IPL 2022, BCCI secretary Jay Shah told ANI on Tuesday. The league stage of the tournament will conclude in Maharashtra on May 22, after which the four teams will travel to Kolkata and Ahmedabad in the bio-bubble. "I am pleased to announce that the Playoff Stage of the IPL 2022 will be held in Ahmedabad and Kolkata. The mega final will be held at Narendra Modi Stadium on May 29 along with Qualifier 2 on May 27. The Qualifier 1 and Eliminator will be played at the Eden Gardens on May 24 and May 25 respectively," Shah told ANI.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022's schedule for the IPL playoffs and final was announced by the BCCI on Tuesday. "The TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) Playoffs and Final will be played from 24th May to 29th May, 2022 in Kolkata and Ahmedabad. Qualifier 1 will be held in Eden Gardens, Kolkata on 24th May followed by the Eliminator on 25th May. The Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad will host Qualifier 2 and the TATA IPL final on 27th and 29th May respectively," the BCCI said in a statement.

Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad will stage the qualifier 2 and the final (on May 29), while the Eden Gardens in Kolkata will host the qualifier 1 and eliminator of IPL-2022. As of now, the BCCI has decided to allow 100% crowd capacity during the IPL playoffs. There was speculation that the BCCI will keep the playoffs in Mumbai and reduce the crowd capacity due to the rising number of Covid-19 cases in the country, but the Board has decided to wait and watch the situation.

BCCI president Sourav Ganguly on Saturday confirmed that the three-team Women's challenger will be held in Lucknow from May 24th to 28th after an apex council meeting of the board on Saturday. In another major development, the first play-off and eliminator in Kolkata on May 24 and 26 followed by second play-off and final at Ahmedabad on May 27 and 29 respectively will be held to full capacity.
