The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 Auction saw 72 players joining the ten franchises and a whopping Rs. 230.45 crore being spent. The Australian pace duo of Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins emerged as the costliest picks as both of them sparked massive bidding wars. While Pat Cummins was picked by Sunrisers Hyderabad for Rs 20.5 crore, Starc broke all records by attracting a bid of Rs 24.75 crore from Kolkata Knight Riders. Harshal Patel was the costliest player among the Indians as the all-rounder joined Punjab Kings for a massive amount of Rs 11.75 crore.
Jharkhand's uncapped wicketkeeper-batter Kumar Kushagra was bought by Delhi Capitals for Rs 7.20 crore in the IPL 2024 auction in Dubai on Tuesday. Kumar Kushagra, initially listed at a base price of Rs 20 lakh, witnessed an intense bidding war among the franchises, ultimately resulting in Delhi Capitals successfully acquiring his services. At 19, Kumar Kushagra has garnered comparisons to the legendary Indian cricketer MS Dhoni, particularly for his adeptness at power-hitting. The right-handed batter had participated in a trial camp with the DC team before the auction. Kumar Kushagra rose to prominence following his impressive performance in the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 tournament earlier this year, amassing 111 runs in six matches for Jharkhand.

Rodgers said that he would have tried to take the field if there was a chance of New York making a post-season push but those hopes ended with the team's 30-0 drubbing by the Miami Dolphins on Sunday. "If we were in a position where we were looking like a playoff team... getting ready for the first round of the playoffs would have been a no-brainer," Rodgers said Tuesday on the Pat McAfee Show. "Now without a timetable to come back, obviously we can be as smart as we need to be." Rodgers raised eyebrows when he said he wanted to return this season after undergoing surgery to repair the tendon, a procedure that can take a year or more to fully recover from. Rodgers, who was acquired by the Jets in a blockbuster trade with the Green Bay Packers in April, said next year will not be his final season. "I wanted at least two years and I feel like this year was kind of a lost year," he said. "I only played a couple snaps and wasn't able to go out there and prove what I'm capable of. "I don't think next year will be my last year...
