The Indian cricket team on Wednesday afternoon rose to the No. 1 spot in ICC rankings after the official website of the governing body of the sport showed that the Rohit Sharma-led side had surpassed Australia in the latest team rankings. In the afternoon on Wednesday, the official website of ICC showed India on top of the Test rankings with 115 rating points and Australia as second with 111 points. But later in the evening at around 7 pm IST, cricket's global governing body put Australia back on top with 126 rating points and India as second with 115 points. India had recently beaten Australia by an innings and 132 runs in the first Test in Nagpur.
